History

Founder Kaleem Clarkson conceptualized Concerts For Charity, in 1999 to engage youth in philanthropy through music, sports, multi-media, visual and performing arts. Inspired by the participation of a local benefit concert while in a local band, Clarkson reached out to longtime colleague Gregory Yanovich to help develop his ideas into a legitimate organization.

With the direction of founding board members Miya Hagberg, Clayton Nutting, Adrian Parker and Greg Yanovich, Concerts For Charity was renamed to Concerts4Charity,Inc (C4C) and was recognized by the IRS as a 501c3 nonprofit organization in December of 2002.

Several months after receiving tax exempt status founding board member Clayton Nutting became more actively involved and expressed his commitment to the development of a West Coast Regional office in Sacramento, California. Seeing the potential for expansion in December of 2003 the Board of Directors granted Clayton Nutting’s wish as he was appointed to the West Coast Regional Director reporting to National Director Kaleem Clarkson.

While concerts had been and will continue to be a major vessel used to attract young adults to participate in philanthropy Concerts4Charity, Inc began to grow into the other areas of their mission statement such as program development. During the summer of 2007 after careful consideration by the board of directors and executive staff the group decided to change the name of the father company to Concepts4Charity, Inc while keeping the Concerts4Charity name as a subsidiary.

Under the leadership of the board of directors and CEO Kaleem Clarkson, Concepts4Charity, Inc has produce over 150 live events, raising over $80,000 in unrestricted funds while also producing two after school music programs and one multi-media program reaching more than 250 students combined.

Operated by an all volunteer based staff C4C has continued to grow by expanding services to Sacramento, California; Portland, Maine; Asheville, North Carolina; Worcester, Massachusetts and most recently Atlanta, Georgia
