PORTLAND- Concerts4Charity.org will present an after party screening of “A Call To Action”. The film depicts how HeadCount sprang out of the live music community to become a force in a nationwide movement to mobilize young voters. It features appearances by a dozen musicians and longtime supporters, including superstar Dave Matthews, Bob Weir of The Grateful Dead, Trey Anastasio of Phish and Grammy-winner Bela Fleck.
Debuted at the HBO Screening Room in New York City, most of “A Call To Action” was filmed on location at the 2007 Langerado Music Festival. Artists were asked to reflect on their support for the HeadCount organization and the role music can play in shaping American politics. Michael Franti, jazz trio Medeski, Martin and Wood, members of O.A.R., Galactic, STS9 and the North Mississippi All-Stars also appear in the movie. HeadCount co-chair Marc Brownstein of The Disco Biscuits and HeadCount board member Al Schnier of moe. were also interviewed for the project and gave their own unique insights into creating social change through music.
Prior to the screening enjoy the sounds of Vermont’s up and coming jam band Twiddle.
Immediately following the screening enjoy a music session featuring Ryan Montbleau Band and special guests.
Proceeds shall benefit Concepts4Charity programs, projects and initiatives.
Tickets will be made available at the Big Easy starting at 4pm on July 12, for a discounted price please bring your Pier Revue Ticket Stub.
